Zhangjiajie Intangible Cultural Heritage Displayed at 2017 Exhibition

Two Zhangjiajie intangible cultural heritage items were displayed at the 2017 Yangtze River Intangible Cultural Heritage Exhibition in Wuhan between October 13 and 17.

The two items are fossil carving and a kind of wine brewed with one hundred plant roots.

The exhibition was under the auspices of the Ministry of Culture, and organized by the Hubei Culture Department and the People’s Government of Wuhan City.

Many Wuhan people were amazed at and showed great interest in these items. Nearly 1,000 citizens inquired and bought related derivative products, and exchanged views with intangible cultural heritage inheritors to learn more about Zhangjiajie. This made them even more anxious to visit the city.

Themed on “Civilization of the Yangtze River, Charm of Intangible Cultural Heritage”, the exhibition included five special exhibitions on traditional costume; traditional Chinese medicine; dietary culture; traditional arts and crafts; and, the research results on Hubei intangible cultural heritage items.

Spectacular skills of more than 1,000 intangible cultural heritage inheritors and 20,000 showpieces of 500 items from 15 provinces and cities along the Yangtze River were presented. Embroidery, paper cutting, and lacquer art, which are the most distinctive intangible heritages in Yangtze basin, were even made on site.
